Charlie has raced with FPMX from the get go, and through all of the positions he has held, his spot in the pits was never left vacant. For those of you who
dont know him, but are familiar with the political climber types that often plague the upper echelon at organizations like major police departments, please
know that Charlie Beck is one of the very rare few that is as grounded as any salty gunslinger out in a black and white on patrol. An amazing guy to work for,
and a guy that knows how to build confidence in a community for their police department, while building the morale and welfare of his officers at the same
time. Charlie supported us when we started the LAPD MX team about 9 years ago, and continues to support the team still. I am a mechanical retard, and it was
always Charlie lending me a hand with my bike, lending me a tool, or just lending me outstanding advice out at the races. To have a guy with that kind of
character in the top seat at LAPD is something that the city, and the law enforcement/emergency response community should truly count as a blessing. I am
really excited to see that LA has the sense and vision to select Charlie to be the next Chief, and the fact that he is a life long Motocrosser is just icing on
the cake! All hail the Chief!!! Rich Swisher #118

I think Charlie has been with us since the beginning, 1989. Anybody remember how he looked back then? I thought he was riding the sponsor.

Charlie hasn't changed much with the exception of Vic Curti not being attached to him at the hip anymore.......and I mean that in a good way. I miss Vic
coming around too. He does show up once in a while though.
Charlie was just a little bit thinner back then :0) but always had the Maicos. I stayed in front of him the whole race when you loaned me your CZ400, but that darn swiss cheese shifter finally fell off and that was it. If it was at least stuck in third gear, I think it would have worked out fine. I miss Perris in those days. Congrats Charlie................Walker, Former DSD/GIS Ranger |
